Bomgaars Ladies Night

It’s once again time to start planning Bomgaars Ladies Night for the Onawa Bomgaars Store! A night of Festive Fun & Fall Shopping!

For the past eight years, Bomgaars has held a Ladies Night in the Fall / Winter. During this one evening, 5% of the total sales has been donated to cancer centers / hospitals / women’s organizations in the communities we serve. The first year we were able to donate over $18,000 to the 21 locations participating, last year, we were able to donate just over $161,055 to 180 locations!

The 2024 Bomgaars Ladies Night is November 3, 2024, 5 – 8 p.m. in all 181 locations!

After investigating and going thru lists of possible organizations, we would like, the Radiology Department at Burgess Health Center, to be a recipient in Onawa.

What does this mean?

Burgess Radiology will be receiving a donation check from Bomgaars in December 2024! The donation is based on the total sales of Ladies Night in the local Bomgaars Store.

Bomgaars endeavors to make this event special for the ladies with a discount and giveaways.

“Each year, the generous support we receive from the Bomgaars Ladies Night event allows us to enhance the quality of care we provide, ensuring our Radiology Department continues to offer the best technology and services to our community. We are truly grateful for their continued partnership and commitment to local healthcare”, states Jenny Coble, Director of Radiology at Burgess Health Center.

Make plans to attend this special event. Onawa Bomgaars Store – Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Burgess Health Center Unveils Newly Renovated and Expanded Facilities to Enhance Patient Care and Comfort

Burgess Health Center is excited to announce the long-awaited reveal of its newly renovated and expanded areas, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to serving the local communities. The community open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony are scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.. Following the ceremony will be family games, food, and guided tours of the facility.

In August 2021, Burgess Health Center began a $20 million investment to enhance healthcare services for its community members. After nearly 31 months of planning and construction, the expansion and renovation project is complete, bringing expanded access, improved privacy, and growth for future services.

The project included the addition of 20,000 square feet of new space and the renovation of 30,000 square feet within the facility. Burgess to Close Whiting Family Clinic in 2024

After careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of multiple factors, Burgess Health Center regrets to announce the closure of the Whiting Clinic, effective January 17, 2024. This difficult decision was made by Burgess Senior Leadership and the Burgess Health Center board in response to ongoing challenges related to financial performance, patient volumes, and the overall feasibility of operating three clinic locations within our service area.

The Burgess organization and the greater Onawa area owe a debt of gratitude to the Garred family for over six decades of dedication to providing quality healthcare to the citizens of this community. We extend our thanks and appreciation to Dr. Garred and Matt for their service and their family legacy.

Burgess Health Center remains committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to our communities, and this decision was not made lightly. The closure of the Whiting Clinic is a strategic move to ensure the long-term sustainability and efficiency of Burgess Healthcare operations.

All affected patients have received a notice regarding the clinic closure, outlining the details of the decision and providing information on how Burgess Health Center can assist them in transitioning their care. Patients will be guided on the process of transferring their medical records and transitioning to other Burgess Health Center locations or alternative local healthcare providers.

“We understand the impact this decision will have on our patients and the community,” said Lynn Wold, CEO at Burgess Health Center. “Our primary focus is ensuring a smooth transition for our patients, and we are dedicated to assisting them throughout this process. We appreciate the trust and support we have received from the Whiting community over the years. Further, Burgess is committed to the ongoing clinic operations in Sloan, Mapleton, and the Whiting Pharmacy.”

Burgess Health Center remains committed to its mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services, and this strategic decision will allow the organization to reallocate resources and focus on enhancing the quality of care provided at other Burgess locations.
