Billing & Insurance FAQs
Do you offer payment arrangements?
Yes, payment arrangements may be made by contacting the health center or clinic billing office, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (not including holidays). We also accept most major credit cards.
Is there any help available if I am experiencing a financial or medical hardship?
Burgess Health Center and Burgess Clinics offer financial assistance programs. Find out more about these programs and print out an application.
How do I know if my health plan requires a referral or pre-authorization for a service?
Your benefit information or provider – often available on your plan’s website – should provide this information for you. If not available, call the number on your insurance card, and they should be able to help you.
Why do I receive separate bills from the hospital and the physician?
When a physician specialist (cardiologist, pathologist, radiologist, etc.) performs these services, he/she is required by law to submit their bill separate from the hospital’s bill.
Why do I receive separate bills from the clinic and the hospital?
Burgess Clinics and Burgess Health Center operate on two separate billing services. Billing requirements for clinics are different than for hospitals. Depending on your insurance, some services are required to be billed from the hospital (i.e., lab work, EKG’s), and you may notice a bill from the clinic and the hospital for a service provided at one of our clinics.
What does Burgess do if I don’t pay my bill?
Burgess wants to make sure everyone can pay their healthcare bill, so we offer payment arrangements and financial assistance. Sending your bill to collections is not something we want to do. More details are available by calling the billing office at 712-423-2311, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (not including holidays).
