Michael Espiritu was born in the Philippines and grew up in southeast Texas before continuing his orthopaedic training in Pittsburgh, PA, and then further specializing in spinal surgery in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Michael Espiritu, MD is a Orthopedic Surgery Specialist in Dakota Dunes, SD and has over 19 years of experience in the medical field.  He graduated from Baylor University medical school in 2002.  He is affiliated with medical facilities such as Burgess Health Center and MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center. He is a board-certified member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the South Dakota State Medical Association, and AO Spine. He has written and co-written several articles on spine surgery and other orthopaedic topics. As one of the few spine fellowship-trained spine surgeons in the area, he provides both surgical and nonsurgical care for disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He believes that spine care should be individualized and will work with a patient’s primary care provider and the patient in order to create an individualized treatment program. Although spine is his area of specialization, he also performs general orthopaedic surgery on the extremities, including total joints and traumas.
