Called
Burgess Family Beginnings, the Obstetrics department manages
the birth experience throughout pregnancy, at the time of
delivery, and as mothers return home with their babies.
Free classes are offered for mothers-to-be in early pregnancy
and again during the third trimester of pregnancy. Appointments
may be made by calling (712) 423-2311, Ext. 246.
Labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care take place
in one of the four attractive suites that add warmth, comfort
and a homelike setting for this joyful experience. Spouses
or other support people are welcome during labor.
Although they look like a studio apartment, suites have modern,
high-tech equipment concealed within them, and all suites
have a whirlpool bath.
Visitors who do not have symptoms of a communicable disease
are welcome to visit between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and
again between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Tours of the department are offered on request. Just stop
by and ask for one.
