Coble Receives Credential as a Certified Radiology Administrator

Jenny Coble, RT(R)(M), CRA, director of radiology at Burgess Health Center, recently earned the designation of Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) through the Radiology Administration Certification Commission.

CRA is the only professional credential tailored specifically for imaging administrators. There are just over 800 CRAs in the United States, and only 8 others in the state of Iowa.

The CRA credential is a 185 question exam-based certification testing skill and knowledge in human resource management, asset resource management, fiscal management, operations management and communications & information management. The credential recognizes skill and capabilities and a high standard of achievement. In short, the CRA credential verifies the specific knowledge and skills you need to lead the imaging team.

“Successful completion of the certification process was important for my leadership role at Burgess,” said Coble. According to the CRA website, www.CRAinfo.org, all CRAs agree to follow a specific code of ethics in their professional interaction with patients, colleagues, vendors and other health professionals.

Every three years Coble will recertify to maintain her designation as a CRA. In order to do this she will need to obtain 36 continuing education credits, and those credits must pertain to the five content areas that were covered on the original certification exam.

Coble is a registered technologist in radiology and mammography. She has worked in the radiology department at Burgess for almost 15 years, and has been director for the last eight.
