Burgess Auxiliary Donation Improves “Style” at Hospital
Many times there are patients at Burgess Health Center who are in need of a haircut or other basic style. They may have been in the hospital for an extended stay, or come to Burgess from a long-term care facility.
Thanks to the generosity of the Burgess Auxiliary there are now supplies available right in the hospital to help the patients look and feel better. There is a rolling caddy filled with the basic items needed to take care of patients' hair styling needs. They have shears, clippers, trimmers, rollers, a hair dryer, and a curling iron; it's a mini salon on wheels.
Sandy Beechy, Kim Gray, and Di Lenz work at Burgess in various departments, and they are also part-time cosmetologists in the community. Many times these stylists have been called upon to help a patient in need. That meant they would have go to their shops, gather the tools necessary, and bring them back to Burgess to fix a patient's hair.
Now all the stylists need to do is pull out the cart and get to work helping the patient. The items are made available to any cosmetologist who has a patient in the hospital and is coming to do his or her hair.
