Dr. Shannon Kennedy Coming to Onawa

Family Medicine Clinic in Onawa will expand further with the addition of Dr. Shannon Kennedy who will begin seeing patients in September.

Kennedy will primarily see patients at Family Medicine Clinic in Onawa and will also provide patient care at Burgess Family Clinic Dunlap and Sloan.

Appointments are now being made at all clinics.

Kennedy has been an active duty family physician with the 97th Medical Group U.S. Air Force at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida where she was a biochemistry research assistant.

She earned her medical degree there and completed her residency with the 55th Medical Group of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Kennedy is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is board certified in family medicine. She will be practicing full spectrum family practice including obstetrics and pediatric medicine.

Kennedy and her husband have two children; a son, Aiden, 5, who will start kindergarten in Onawa; and Annemarie, 1.

She joins another recently-added physician Dr. Brandon Kovar at Family Medicine Clinic and the Burgess clinics. Both new physicians will be members of the Burgess Health Center medical staff.

A "Welcome Brunch" for Drs. Kennedy and Kovar will be held at Family Medicine Clinic Sunday, Aug 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The brunch is sponsored by the Burgess Health Center Auxiliary. Everyone is invited.
