Golf Events Score Funds

Burgess Foundation broke records by expanding its recent golf tournament to add a day at Mapleton’s golf course in addition to Onawa’s. The two days of the tournament attracted some 156 golfers and netted a total of $14,299.

The 60 golfers in Mapleton raised $5,563 to buy a NuStep for physical therapy at Burgess Family Clinic-Maple Valley. The 96 golfers in Onawa raised $8,736 for a BioStep for cardiac rehab at Burgess. The remainder of the proceeds will be held by the foundation for future needs of Burgess.

Top raffle winners of an electric barbecue grill donated by Western Iowa Power Coop were Grace Addy, a Mapleton clinic employee, and Tammy Bramley.

“It was an excellent event,” says Shirley Bruegger, foundation director. Josh Lander, Burgess director of physical therapy, served as the volunteer tournament coordinator.
