Trip is Growing for Christmas Musical in Omaha
A second bus is filling up for a Burgess Advantage dinner and theater trip to see the holiday Broadway musical, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The trip, which begins with an elegant dinner at the Omaha Press Club on top of the First National Bank Building, has a registration deadline of 12 noon on Friday Oct. 16. The Press Club is known for its “Best View in Town” with window walls providing sweeping views of the downtown skyline, Qwest Center Omaha and the riverfront.
The restaurant walls feature more than 100 caricatures of newsmakers who have been roasted by the Press Club, including business leader Warren Buffett, Tom Osborne and TV legends Jonny Carson and Dick Cavett.
The club will be open specifically for the Burgess Advantage dinner. The bar will be open to guests at their own expense. All other expenses for this trip are included. The dinner will start with the club’s famous Thunderbird salad and finish with chocolate raspberry torte for dessert. There are choices of entrees.
"We taste-tested the dinner and were impressed with the meal choices, the professional service and the setting," says Jean Pekarek, trip organizer. "This trip will truly be the ideal pre-holiday treat and could be an ideal gift for a loved one."
A snow globe reflecting the winter theme will be given to guests as a special gift.
Travelers on the trip, sponsored by Burgess Advantage of Burgess Health Center, will depart from the Onawa Community Center at 4:30 p.m.
Many participants are registering and paying for the trip by computer clicking on a link on the Burgess website, a new feature offered by Burgess to make registrations more convenient.
