Piscatella Presents " Make Your Health Last as Long as Your Life" Oct. 22
Heart health expert Joe Piscatella will present " Make Your Health Last as Long as Your Life" to the general public at an 11:30 a.m. luncheon program Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Onawa Community Center.
Doors open at 11 a.m. for the major event, sponsored by Burgess Health Center and its foundation. There will be hands-on education, blood pressure screens and blood sugar checks. Staley’s will serve a buffet luncheon and special prizes will be awarded for participants of heart healthy activities.
Piscatella is a best-selling author, high energy speaker and expert on the topic of heart health. He has been a guest on the Today Show, CNN, Good Morning America and Fox News and hosted PBS television specials on lifestyle and health.
In his presentations to the general public and healthcare professionals, he uses humor and decades of experience to deliver practical points that move audiences to live healthier lives.
At his Onawa luncheon program he will address why so many Americans have heart disease and how to assess the risk of heart disease. He will discuss healthy eating and exercise and offer specific advice to change lifestyle habits to help people feel healthier. He will also share methods and coping skills to effectively manage stress.
“We were so impressed when we saw Joe Piscatella in Emmetsburg at a hospital-sponsored program 18 months ago," says Shirley Bruegger, director of the Burgess Foundation, a co-sponsor of his appearances. “He teaches life balance principles in an entertaining way that everyone can use to improve their health while living busy lives.”
“Joe motivates and inspires you to take ownership and responsibility for your health,” adds Jean Pekarek, Burgess event co-planner.
Piscatella's all-day visit to Onawa is funded by the Got 2 Move grant from Wellmark Foundation, Burgess Foundation and the hospital. He also will address school staff, parents and childcare providers in a program later that day.
The luncheon cost is $7.50 per person and $5 for active Burgess volunteers. Registrations and payment are requested by Oct. 16.
Persons can register by computer this year by going online and paying by credit card at www.burgesshc.org. For more information call Bruegger at 712-423-9374.
