Christy Batien of KTIV to MCWear Red Event Feb. 3

KTIV News Channel 4 Today co-anchor and Healthbeat 4 reporter Christy Batien will serve as the master of ceremonies at the second annual Wear Red luncheon sponsored by Burgess Health Center Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the Onawa Community Center.

Doors will open with booths at 10:30 a.m. The event will feature a heart healthy luncheon, an educational presentation on heart failure with Dr. Claire Hunter of Creighton Cardiac Center and tips from professional organizer Elizabeth Hagen.

Claudia Boss, a Burgess nurse educator, will talk about her own experience with heart disease.

Batien is well-known in Siouxland for the regular health reports she presents on KTIV newscasts five days a week. She has worked at KTIV for 10 years, and co-anchors the morning newscast “News Channel 4 Today” with Al Joens.

“There are strong medical stories to tell right here in Siouxland,” Batien says. “I take pride in educating our viewers on new advancements in healthcare knowledge and treatment that can benefit us today."

Booths at the event will offer nail painting, blood pressure checks, neck massages, book sales and more.

Men and women are invited. Cost for lunch is $10. Active volunteers receive a discount. Registration forms are at the hospital’s front information desk, ACT II and other area sites and on the hospital website at www.burgesshc.org. The reservation deadline is Jan. 30.
