Burgess Welcomes Nooney as Director of Mental Health
Greg Nooney has been named new director of mental health at Burgess Health Center.
He worked at Burgess part-time for the past several months before joining the hospital full-time. Nooney previously worked at Dean and Associates in Sioux City as a therapist and mediator for seven years and served as a therapist for Siouxland Mental Health for many years.
He has provided mental health therapy services to Sioux City Community Schools since 2001.
In addition to his work in Sioux City, Nooney was a clinical director for a helpline in Durham, N. C., and served as program manager and social worker at John Umstead Hospital’s rehabilitation unit, in Butner, N.C. for 13 years.
A certified mediator, Nooney has been associated as an instructor in the social work field with the universities of Iowa, Nebraska, and North Carolina and has presented numerous workshops. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University and a master of social work degree from Loyola University, Chicago.
Nooney resides with his wife and four teenage children in Sioux City.
“Day-to-day life is full of stress and difficulties for all of us,” Nooney says. “We are available to confidentially listen and provide a different perspective on these issues for all our clients. We work with families and couples, children as young as kindergarten age, and adults well into the later stages of life."
“We will be moving to updated facilities in a new location at the hospital annex in a few months, where our services will be more accessible for our clients.”
