Burgess Patient Surveys Reveal Top Ratings
When patients who had same day surgery earlier this year ranked Burgess among the top hospitals in the nation for patient satisfaction in outpatient surgery, hospital officials showcased the news on Highway 175 site down the road from Burgess.
While the board will come down soon, it represents the continuous staff efforts at Burgess to achieve top levels of customer satisfaction and service.
According to the first quarter results of the nationally used Press Ganey patient satisfaction survey, Burgess’ outpatient surgery received the overall satisfaction rating of 99 percent, the highest score possible. It was the first time for the department.
Burgess’s ER also received the 99 percent rating for the quarter and has earned top rankings twice last year. Lab received a 97, and the patient floor received a 94.
“We work continually to provide our patients, visitors and family members with the most positive experience possible at Burgess,” says Jean Pekarek, director of patient experiences. “We carefully track our surveys and address quality patient experiences regularly.”
The patient satisfaction survey includes questions on the registration process, staff, doctors, lab, radiology, comfort and cleanliness of waiting areas, waiting time, pain control, privacy, and care and concern for not only the patient but also their family and friends. Surveys are mailed to homes after a patient is discharged.
All Burgess departments that provide direct patient care or support services are working to get high scores, says Pekarek.
“We want people to fill out our surveys when they receive them and tell us how we’re doing.”
