Volunteer Greets Persons off New Burgess Lobby

Persons walking in the new entrance of Burgess Health Center are greeted by a helpful smile of an information desk greeter in the hospital’s beautiful new reception area.

The new service is staffed by volunteers in the morning and afternoon until 4 p.m.

“Our extensive renovation has created the look of a brand new hospital. A host will play a valuable role in welcoming, registering and directing persons coming into new hospital areas,” Jean Pekarek, director of patient satisfaction. “They may direct a young mother to admitting to pre-register for labor and delivery, guide someone to the new outpatient waiting room or find someone to escort them to our inpatient rooms.”

The volunteer station is the first thing a person sees as they enter the lobby and look ahead past the area. The hospital’s new gift shop is also off the lobby. Traffic flow to new Burgess patient care areas and departments will be totally changed with the newly constructed areas.

Volunteers serving at the new information desk are: Lottie Pierce, Mae Erixon, Pat Walker, Elsie Grandgenett, Mary Arney and Evelyn Purchase.
