Burgess Blanket Warmer Offers Extra Warm Care
Patients at Burgess Health Center are feeling the warmth of heated blankets with the new blanket warmer purchased with special intention funds at the Poinsettia Ball held last December.
The two-cabinet, two-door model features independent temperature controls in each cabinet. The warmer can be set to 130 degrees to heat up to 60 blankets.
“A warm blanket can relax a patient, reduce anxiety and brighten one’s outlook,” says Shirley Bruegger, foundation director. “When families see and feel a warm blanket tucked around a family member in the hospital it also enhances their comfort level with the patient experience. It demonstrates compassionate care at the same time it makes a patient feel a bit more secure.”
Burgess has ordered another blanket warmer to be used in the new outpatients department when its renovation is completed.
Derek and Sarah Cartmill kicked off the blanket warmer "special intention" fundraiser with a check for $2500, which was then matched by the Burgess Auxiliary.
