Burgess Home Health Co-hosts Caregiver Classes

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a series of six classes to help caregivers with challenges, will be held Thursdays, Jan. 18 to Feb. 22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier.

Trained instructors are Cheri Hardison, education director of Monona County ISU Extension, and Sherri Johnston, director of Burgess Home Health/Hospice.

Family caregiving often involves helping older adults with transportation, housekeeping, personal care, emotional support, medical decisions, financial concerns and legal issues.

“Whether you provide care at home or are responsible for someone in a care facility miles away – you still face many challenges,” says Johnston. “Caregiving can be physically, emotionally and financially stressful. These classes will help people balance their lives, locate helpful resources, improve their confidence, reduce stress and increase their ability to make tough decisions.”

The class fee of $30 includes refreshments and a caregiver workbook. To learn more or register call the county extension office at 712/423-2175.
