Teams Will Walk for Diabetes Sept. 10

Area residents and organizations are invited to join “Team Monona County” to take part in America’s Walk for Diabetes at the Sioux City riverfront Sunday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association.

The walk will begin at the Anderson Dance Pavilion and wind along the riverfront to equal

a two-mile distance. There will be hot dogs, ice cream treats, games, Dizzy the clown, face painting, entertainment, free t-shirts and more. Prizes will be awarded to the most creatively and best dressed teams.

Proceeds from the walk will support the American Diabetes Association which works to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of both children and adults affected by both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

“The incidence of diabetes is growing nationwide and in Monona County,” says Michele Kirkendall, a local diabetes educator. “We would love to have a great group from Monona County to join us in walking to support the health of our friends, family members, neighbors and children with diabetes.”
