Grady is Employee of the Year

Grady Warner, a network systems analyst in the Information Systems department, was chosen Burgess Health Center’s 2005 Employee of the Year. Several other employees received awards for years of service at the hospital’s recent annual Christmas banquet.

For his selection by co-workers from employee of the month candidates, Grady received a “front door” parking place and $100 gift certificate for a local business.

Grady has been a resource to Burgess employees since joining the workforce 18 months ago. He works with Sue Burtch to troubleshoot computer issues at the hospital, its clinics and pharmacies and works “to help the staff do their job more efficiently so they can spend more time with patients and less time with paperwork.”

Grady also serves with the Des Moines Air National Guard 132nd Fighter Wing, supporting aircraft equipment as an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) technician. Last summer he was deployed to Qatar with his Air Guard unit for seven weeks to support U.S. ground forces in Iraq.

His military service in fact brought the Maryland native to the Midwest more than 10 years ago, and he’s been happy to stay.

“I like the family environment of Onawa,” says Grady. “You can be more personally involved with your kids, and people genuinely seem to care about you.”
