ABOUT ONAWA

Onawa, the Monona
County Seat, is a town of 3,100 located between the Loess Hills
on the east and the Missouri River on the west. The community has
all the benefits of small town life with easy interstate access
to city amenities in either Sioux City (40 miles) or Omaha (60 miles).
West Monona Community Schools student-teacher ratio is 12 to 1,
allowing for individualized attention. The 6-7-8-grade middle school
opened during the fall of 2001. Also, opening in 2001 was the Early
Childhood Development Center attached to Lark Elementary which includes
Head Start Classrooms, a 90 child Day Care, and a private preschool.
Recreational opportunities include: approximately 70 acres of parks
in town, a nine hole golf course, swimming pool complete with a
waterslide, hiking and hunting in the Loess Hills, water activities
on the Missouri River or Blue Lake State Park which has a full-sized
replica of Lewis and Clarks keel boat. There is also many museums
and a gaming casino nearby.
With it's availability of numerous professional services, it's
abundance of retail options, it's convenient location, and it's
top-notch school system, Onawa is a wonderful place to live and
an even better place to raise a family.
